I’m on the fence between voting for Karen Handel or Eric Johnson in Tuesday’s primary vote for Georgia Governor. As I said on Facebook, no other candidates are worthy of my vote. I once considered Ray McBerry last year but I quickly realized he was nuts and does not represent my values.
If I read some accounts, Handel isn’t as conservative as she comes across but does that really matter to me? Well, here’s my thing. I met Sonny Perdue before he became governor and I liked him and would have voted for him if I hadn’t already moved back to Florida. But now I can clearly see that Sonny wasn’t the best governor. If I do vote for Handel, I don’t want to regret not voting for Johnson down the road. Even if Johnson loses, I would know that I voted for the better candidate. I’ve heard and read good things about Johnson but I just don’t think he has the star power to win against the worst enemy of Georgia, King Roy the Rat.
Help me decide.

I have to say Eric has my vote and I was never to keen on Sonny but it was the best of two evils. I have learned to look past the push cards and read between the lines and body language and how they look at you at the events. I must say after the July 4th the only two were Ox and Eric and now it comes down to this and I have to say its tough but Eric can do it. I feel the star power is not an effect this year, Eric is humble and does not brag or really try to reach for the star power but just does the job.
I voted for Handel. I did so before her surge late last week that catapulted her into 1st place. My vote for her was really one against Deal and Oxendine, as I believe ethics are important and they don't pass that test.
Now that we see that Deal and Oxendine are fighting for a spot in the run off, and Handel seems to have assured her spot, I kinda wish I had voted for Johnson.
A Johnson/Handel run off would show that the GOP has come to terms with its corruption laced past and is willing to close that chapter and move on.
So since Handel is already in the runoff, go vote for Johnson. That way it buys you time to consider between the two if Johnson gets in the runoff.
That is a compelling argument Scot. Thanks.
Don't discount Eric yet. He's been all over this great BIG state & the people will come out to vote for him. I've known him & his family for over 30 years & there isn't a better person to stand in the gap for us. If you haven't made a decision for GA Insurance Comm, my husband John Mamalakis is running. I believe alot of people won't vote for him because of the same reasons you gave for Eric. I believe it's time for us to vote for the MOST qualified & trustworthy candidates & not try to determine the outcome. I'm praying we'll both be surprised tonight
I made my choice.
And?
I voted for the winner, of course….
